Coffee, ice cream, sandwiches, oh my!

So, not only did I delight in visiting Ziba's this Thursday, I also got to finish my day with a sweet treat from yet another woman-owned business! Grant Park Coffeehouse, a hip little place directly across from the zoo, will delight audiences of all ages with its atmosphere and menu.

If you take a tour of Grant Park Coffeehouse's website, you'll come across the reason for its opening back in 2010. Owner, baker, and chef Rahel Belfield wanted a place that she and her daughter could go for coffee and treats. Welcome to her dream turned reality! GPC (Grant Park Coffeehouse) has a little smattering of everything. From the time they open, Belfield and her team are churning out lattes, frappes, cold brews, and more. The breakfast menu for food includes a fresh-baked mix of muffins, scones, and other morning delights that give you a reason to want to go to work in the morning.
GPC doesn't just stop at the morning rush, though. They're open till 6 p.m., so you best believe that the daytime menu is just as fresh and wonderful. House made salads and sandwiches are a delight for lunchtime revelers and folks just getting off of work. And if you're looking for something to hit that sweet spot? Ice cream is the first thing you'll see when you walk in. The two-scoop cone of strawberry and vanilla is what I indulged in...I'm an ice cream junkie, I'll admit it. Step in a little further and you'll be met with a case of Belfield's bakery treats for the day (she's a wonder woman, people). Not only does Belfield do it all with the help of a women-assisted team, but GPC also sells organic and fair trade coffee, making sure that she's offering customers a drink that is good for the planet and the people who farm it.

Visiting GPC was a great way for me to end my trip in an eclectic part of Atlanta's ever-growing community, especially since so many of the businesses around Grant Park are women-owned (recall the deli I mentioned in my post about Ziba's, along with some boutiques and other restaurants). There's a really uplifting feeling I get when I know that a woman, like myself, had a vision and then made it happen. Being able to support them is just another great bonus to it all!
