Although I'm no fashionista, I do pride myself on having an eclectic wardrobe. I've got a pair of mom jeans, I fall head-over-heels for old shirts and dresses, and I love some good sew-on patches for jackets, too. So who gets the trophy for making my closet look fun and thrifty? Ecologie Resale & Vintage. As a customer who's been shopping here since they opened, I can verify how wonderful Ecologie is and how much heart and soul the owner, Nancie Vann, has put into her second child.

Let's start with the basics. The store. The foundation of all things novel and chic. Tucked away in a quiet strip mall, Vann opened Ecologie as a local Kennesaw consignment store in 2011. The concept behind it was simple; create a comfortable experience for young women so that they could come in and trade clothes and then buy *new* ones. The merchandise ranges from well-known, everyday brands to vintage pieces (of which we'll get to in a moment), shoes, accessories, and home goods. If you're thinking at this point, "Okay, so what's so great about this place? Is it worth visiting? Is it big?" Your answers are yes and YES. Vann has had to expand the storefront twice now to keep up with what Ecologie sells and to account for the continued flow of foot traffic.

Now... let's talk about the vintage! Sure, you'll find Free People, Urban Outfitters, Old Navy, and Forever 21 items, but the best part of what lines the walls are the blasts from the past. We're talking shirts, dresses, skirts, and pants that range from the 1950's all the way to the 1990's (does that make anyone else feel old?). Vann and her team go through each clothing drop off with a fine-tooth comb. They scour labels to see when the clothes were produced. They check for any rips, stains, or missing buttons. They could make any FBI agent jealous with their detail-driven eyes.

If you want to look like a fun and fresh 60's revival, you'll end up getting what you ask for. If you're looking for high-waisted shorts or pants, look no further. Ecologie has a whole aisle dedicated to them. Want to get hitched in a wedding dress from the 1970's? Ecologie has you covered. A portion of the store is stocked full of wedding dresses with beautiful and intricate *details.

*Shoulder pads may be included.

If you're into supporting women-owned businesses, but you also love saving the environment and giving back to the community, you've just scored another win with Ecologie. Within the past two years, Ecologie has gone completely bag free. When you go to check out, your bundle of goods will be tied off with clothing scraps. If you take a look at Ecologie's Instagram page, you can find a post that states that in 2017 the store saved over 11,400 bags from the landfill and it recycled over 28,000 articles of clothing. That's a double win for the planet! Ecologie also helps donate any unsold or unwanted clothes to the Kennesaw State University homeless student organization so that students have clothes for the semester.

What else should you know about Ecologie? If you follow them on social media, you'll be kept in the loop about all of the fun events they put on for customers. They recently held a dollar sale, and in the past they've hosted fashion shows and Galentine's days.

The staff also has consultation appointments where you can let them help you pick out clothes that match your current style, or you can let them steer you in a totally fun and new direction. If you tag Ecologie in posts on Instagram, they'll feature you on their page as well. Customers will also find that the trade in process is easy. You can bring your old clothes in and then receive either store credit or cash for whatever Ecologie buys from you.

In conclusion? If you're anything like me and you like to shop till you drop, but you like feeling valued and saving the planet, you owe it to yourself to shop at Ecologie. You can't go wrong with what you'll find...and I promise you'll find A LOT.
